Fresh Fruit in Hillsborough, NJ

Hillsboro Farm Country Market offers fruit through the growing season, from stone fruit and berries grown right here to melons and citrus that round out the case.

What's Ripe, Week to Week

Our fruit tables shift through the season the way they do on any working farm. Peaches, nectarines, plums, apples, and pears come through their own windows, and blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries show up in theirs. Watermelon and cantaloupe carry us through the middle of summer.

Alongside what's grown here, we also carry lemons, limes, oranges, mangos, avocados, and bananas, so there's a full fruit selection on the shelves even outside of what's in season locally.

Peaches, Nectarines, Plums

Peaches, nectarines, and plums each have their own short window through the summer months, best eaten within a few days of picking up while they're still soft and fragrant. Together, they make up what's known as stone fruit, named for the hard pit at the center of each one.

Apples and Pears

Apples and pears are on the shelves throughout the season. When local supply runs into trouble, weather damage or an off crop, we bring in fruit from elsewhere rather than leave the shelves empty, so there's always something on hand even when nature doesn't cooperate.
